Wieliczka Salt Mine
Kopalnia Soli „Wieliczka” – Wieliczka Salt Mine is located near Krakow, Poland. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This was probably the hardest day for me to take photos because there was almost no lighting and I was still figuring out how to use the ISO settings on my camera. So here are some slightly crappy photos with flash. That is 378 steps down the first part of the mine followed by another 108 steps at another point and several more steps after that. The elevator ride to the top was about 45 seconds up. It was amazingly fast, dark and creepy.
You could lick the walls – they taste like salt. I did not, but other people did!
Yes, there is a chapel for weddings! There’s nothing like getting married underground.
